Here are some of your questions answered…

Is Emotional Support Coaching the same thing as Counselling?

Emotional support coaching is NOT counselling.

As an emotional support coach, I work with parents, partners and autistic adults to help them navigate the challenges they face over their lifetime. I do NOT prescribe any action/activity to the client.

Emotional Support Coaching is about listening and for you, the client, to know that I understand what the autistic family is all about. I offer a combination of knowledgeable and emotional support.

Is Emotional Support Coaching confidential?

Yes, I provide a safe space and our sessions are confidential.

However, Autistic Emotional Support means that if any suspected harm to the client/others is raised, a risk assessment will be performed. If the client or others are in imminent danger, your GP, mental health nurse or law enforcement will be contacted as a last resort. Child/adult safeguarding will be followed as per the individual safeguarding policy.

I am not bound by confidentiality, if in good faith, I feel that I can assist in the prevention or detection of a serious crime, this includes safeguarding issues regarding children or vulnerable adults, crimes regarding substantial financial gains and losses, and acts of terrorism.

How long does coaching last?

I provide both short and long-term therapy.

I do not require you to commit to a set number of sessions upfront. After your first session, we can chat about whether you would like a further session and when that would be. I do not have set slot times every week.

I work on a week-by-week basis.

What does it cost?

I charge a fee of £25 per 1 hour session paid in advance of each session.

How do we meet?

The majority of my sessions are by Zoom.  If you are unable to download zoom for any reason, we can discuss the option of FaceTime or WhatsApp.

What if I need to cancel a session?

If you are unable to attend our agreed session, please be kind enough to let me know by text or email as your slot could be filled by an urgent client. If you have already paid, we can agree on an additional session when you are next free.

If you arrive late to our scheduled session, I am unable to extend our time, as this will affect my other client appointments.

What my clients have to say

Hattie has helped me see things from a different perspective

When I first met Hattie, I was very unsure of my choices, saying yes and no to things. Being in awkward situations.

Having sessions with Hattie and hearing someone else’s view on the situation really helped me see a different way of getting through something. She gave me tips that I’ve stuck to and have helped me especially when I’m anxious and stressed.

This year I felt like I have accepted myself more than before. Diving into stressful situations and going for things that still scare me and actually going for interviews! Prepping as much as possible and staying calm in the situation and just doing my best with a positive attitude.

I also met an amazing man last year and, going through situations together, I can pass what helped me onto him too.

Hattie really does help people and see things from a different perspective and I’m very fortunate to have her help.
